Screw-Plug Immersion Heaters – Description
Screw-Plug Immersion Heaters consist of tubular heating elements which are brazed or welded into a threaded brass, steel or stainless steel screw plug. Screw-plug heaters or bushing heaters as they are sometimes referred to, can then be inserted into a threaded opening in a tank wall or through a mating full of half coupling.
Screw-Plug Immersion Heaters are used to heat fluids such as water, oil, chemical solutions, mild acids, electroplating and salt solutions.

Listed below are some of the recommended watt densities to heat various fluids and gases.

90, 60 & 45 Watts/Square Inch

For industrial water heating of many acqueous solutions which accept heat easily.

23 Watts/Square Inch

Industrial process heating of many light oils and cooling fluids for some corrosive solutions along with air and gas heating.

15 & 12 Watts/Square Inch

For industrial heating of medium viscosity oils, high temperature air and gas heating.

8 Watts/Square Inch

For heating of #5 and #6 fuel oil, viscous materials, raw crude oil and residual oils.

6 Watts/Square Inch

For heating #6 fuel oil, very viscous materials and fluids that do not accept heat readily.
